Call for Scores

The North Bay Chamber Orchestra invites composers of all ages and nationalities to submit original orchestral works for consideration in upcoming concert seasons.

Selected works will be considered for live performance by the North Bay Chamber Orchestra, providing composers with an opportunity to collaborate with a professionally-modeled ensemble dedicated to the performance of contemporary music.

Call For Scores Posting

Eligibility & Requirments

Open to composers of any age, nationality, and career stage.

- Works previously performed by community or academic ensembles may be submitted.

- Works previously performed by professional or festival ensembles will NOT be considered.

- Arrangements, transcriptions, and works requiring soloists are not eligible.

- Composers may submit multiple works; each submission requires a separate entry fee.

- Works may be a maximum of 15 minutes in duration.

Each submission must include:

- A PDF of the full score

- Please do not submit parts at this time

- A recording of the work (live recording preferred; MIDI realization accepted)

- A brief program note (maximum 250 words)

- A short composer biography (maximum 150 words)

Instrumentation

Submitted works must fall within three (3) maximum instrumentation categories*:

1. Classical-size Orchestra:

2 Flutes, 2 Oboes, 2 Clarinets, 2 Bassoons
2 Horns, 2 Trumpets

Strings (6.5.4.4.2) [maximum two-part string divisi]
Notation: 2222.2200.Timp.Stgs (65442)

2. String Orchestra:

Strings (54432) [maximum two-part divisi]
Notation: Stgs (54432)

3. Wind Dectet:

2 Flutes, 2 Oboes, 2 Clarinets, 2 Bassoons
2 Horns
Notation: 2222.2000

*Works may be of a subset of the above instrumentations (i.e. Classical-size Orchestra with only one oboe and no trumpets [2122.2000.Timp.Stgs]).
